John Scalzi's a hell of a writer and a hell of a smartass, and Zoe's Tale, his debut young adult novel, features one of the most likable, most smart-assy protagonists I've ever had the pleasure of sharing 330 pages with. Zoe's Tale by John Scalzi My rating: 5 of 5 stars. They are different books, but they have essentially the same overall plot seen through two different characters. In TLC, the story is told from John Perry's viewpoint. Zoe's Tale is a retelling of the story of The Last Colony from the point of view of Zoe, the teenage daughter of the main characters of the previous novel. I ate up the Old Man's War trilogy last year like it was a friggin' breakfast burrito during a hangover. Reading next: The Last Colony and Zoe's Tale by John Scalzi, followed by The Human Division. Zoe's Tale by John Scalzi is about Zoe Boutin-Perry, a girl living on the colony Huckleberry. This is a retelling of The Last Colony from a different character's point of view. Zoe is adopted by John and Jane Perry after her father, Charles Boutin, passes away. In non-mainlining news, I will also probably be getting serious about Hugo reading, since the voter's packet will be out soon. I'm going to be a little different and review these together.
